Samantha Friedman Interior Designs, a personalized interior design company, is the culmination of over 15 years experience providing clients with creative and luxurious solutions to their everyday needs.
My goal is to create a livable design and my passion is working with colors and textures.
I believe that a home is a reflection of who you are, and I help clients achieve a space that is true to them, while also creative and on budget.
I have worked on design projects ranging from nurseries to embassy dining halls and everything in between. I am skilled in negotiating for my clients, and I am resourceful in locating hard-to-find pieces.
I have worked in various fields of the design industry, which I believe benefits my clients. As a former sales associate in a home furnishing showroom, I understand how overwhelming it can be when faced with so many options.
I spent four years as a commercial kitchen designer, and worked on projects including Philadelphia Eagles Stadium, the Washington D.C. Convention Center, the Hay-Adams Hotel, the Madison Hotel, the United States Patent and Trade Office and the Kennedy Center Encore Cafe. I honed my attention-to-detail and organizational skills on these large-scale projects.
But my passion for creating and making others happy actually began in the kitchen. I am a gourmet chef and have worked under one of the most well-respected chefs in the country. That experience taught me how to balance tastes and not to be afraid to take a risk.
I have a Bachelors degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration where I focused on hospitality design and project management.
It has always been my dream to work independent of a corporate culture. I needed to let my imagination, skills and focus work without restraints. That is why Samantha Friedman Interior Designs exists… to allow my clients to benefit from my education, background and design skills.
As an NCIDQ certified designer, I am licensed to practice in Florida, Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as a professional member of ASID. Samantha Friedman Interior Designs, LLC has been featured in Washington Spaces magazine, Home and Design magazine and the Washington Post.
I believe your home can be elegant and comfortable at the same time, creating a “livable design” for you and your family.
Taking into account your needs, tastes, style and budget I create a design concept that is “livable.”
- Do you have children?
We need to be durable and safe.
- Do you entertain a lot?
We need space and accommodations like flexible seating for this.
- Do you cook often?
My background is kitchen design, so lets create something beautiful and functional.
- Media room requirements?
You need comfortable seating, and great acoustics and sound.
- Do you read a lot?
Appropriate lighting and seating are required.
- Recreational room needed?
Durable with enough space to have fun.
- Lots of shoes and handbags?
My problem too, lets reorganize your closet.
- Do you have clutter?
We can find ways to hide it with creative and attractive storage solutions.
- Do you and your significant other have different styles?
I can help make you both happy by finding that middle ground.
When asked what my style of design is, I can only answer with the following:
- No two projects are alike.
- I enjoy working with English Tudor to Bold Contemporary and everything in between. Making each home unique and different is what makes my job fun and exciting.
- Your home will feel as collected and comfortable or as simple and elegant as you want.
- I will work with you to select furniture, antiques, fabrics, textures, wall coverings and trims that will please your family for many years.
- I love combining fabrics and trims that have different styles and textures.
- Design is all about the details: rich colors, unique stone and tile, patterned wall papers, architectural molding details.
