“When Samantha Friedman walks into a home, she doesn’t see square footage or empty walls. The founder of her eponymous design firm sees the daily rhythms of family life that need support, the way light moves through a room, and how every design choice will impact how people live in their space.

“It’s about designing environments that truly support the way people live,” Friedman says. “I take that responsibility seriously, always prioritizing my clients’ needs and how they want to feel in their homes.”

Friedman worked as a commercial kitchen designer before shifting to interior design, where she eventually felt drawn to using furniture, fabrics and finishes to delight the senses. Today, she leverages her hospitality background to understand her clients’ requests and needs, making personal connections with homeowners in the DMV area.

She’s particularly proud of completing her largest project to date— an entire house—selecting everything from finishes and fixtures to front driveway pavers. “Steering the entire vision from start to finish was incredibly satisfying,” she says.

Outside of work, Friedman enjoys traveling around the U.S. and the world, having recently visited London and Paris. She also co-chairs two events at her sons’ school. One, Taste of Landon, attracts hundreds of attendants with multicultural dishes cooked by school families. It’s one way this Dynamic Woman tries to model a balance of professional creativity and personal interests.

“I want [my boys] to understand how much my work means to me—how it brings me joy, fulfillment and a strong sense of identity,” Friedman says. “At the same time, I want them to recognize the effort it takes to balance a career I love with being a present, engaged parent.”
